Protect What’s Important with a Fire Safe
When you think of safes, you might immediately think of protection against theft. However, safes can protect against much more than an intrusion; they can also protect important items from damage due to fire. Built to withstand the heat and smoke that often occurs during a fire, these safes can protect documents, media, valuables and other important items from severe damage at your home, or at the office.
Keep Important Documents in a Fire Safe
We all have important documents; birth and marriage certificates, identity documents and passports, stock certificates, cash and checks, and many others. These are often difficult or even impossible to replace, and the process can be expensive. If a fire occurs, it’s good to know that these items, which stand little chance of withstanding a fire if left unprotected, can be safely retrieved. After all, if a fire does occur, trying to track down something like your insurance documents can be a nightmare if they are lost in the process. Other delicate items, such as fine jewelry or family heirlooms can also be stored safely in a fire safe.
Fire safes are usually rated by Underwriter Laboratory (UL), an independent organiztion. The rating goes by hours of withstanding a fire. Some Brands that are well known for safes with fire rating are Sentry gun safes, Honeywell burglary and fire safe, Gardall and Amsec safes.
